PE V1.0.128.0 Can't uninstall; 'Uninst.isu' not valid or corrupted

I need to uninstall PE V1 to be able to install PE 2.0. When I go to Remove programs and run the uninstall for PE the following message is displayed after the Install Shield disappears. "The log file 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Uninst.isu' is not valid or the data has been corrupted. Uninstallation will not continue." How can I remove PE V1 safely and remove all its attendant components? Can I delete the 'Uninst.isu' file and try to re-install PE V1 to renew this file? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your time.

Richard, I tried to re-install PE but the problem still persists. Thanks for your reply.

Unless you feel comfortable with editing the Windows registry, I would try the re-install approach. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't, let me know.

Marvin,
You can have both PE1 and PE2 installed on the same computer with no problems.

Marv,
PE2 will installed into its own sub folder. I have both programs installed on my system with no problems. I'm using a 4 year old computer running Win98se. Both programs work fine.

I started to tell him that, but I didn't want him to feel bad after all of this! :)

Beth, That was my next question. I don't feel bad about this at all. I was just trying to clean up programs that I will no longer be using. If I read both you and Russell right, there are no conflicts created by just installing the new PE2 application. Please reply. Thanks in advance. Marv

Beth,
I was thinking the samething, then I thought maybe he could go ahead and install PE2 and at least be able to use it. I'm not sure if that would be inviting trouble what with a failed deinstall of PE1.

Me too. :) I keep PSE 1 on my computer mainly because I hang out at this forum and occasionally need to check something. I don't really use it any more, but I can have both of them open at the same time without any conflicts. My main computer is a Mac, though, so I don't speak Windows well enough to help with the problems Marv is now having. Sorry. :(
